oSTEM at U of M

I am pleased to announce the the transition of the Student Alliance of Gay Engineers (SAGE) to a more inclusive title of Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM). At the last meeting of the Winter 10 semester, the members of SAGE voted to change our name to oSTEM because this name will be a better representation of the majors and identities we strive to support. As always, we welcome all majors and identities, and our main goal is to provide professional development support to the LGBTQA community in STEM fields. To help advertise this change, I would like to ask for your help in spreading the word to your friends and other student organizations. Additionally, if you know of anyone interested in joining oSTEM, I encourage you to invite them to come to our table at Festifall, Northfest, and Gayz Craze to learn more about oSTEM. Currently, we are working with the national oSTEM organization and other oSTEM chapters to build the best programs that suit our needs.  I am very excited about this next semester and the many opportunities that this change brings. Please look out for more e-mails coming as the Fall semester approaches with more information on meeting dates and times as well as our planned programs.
